A collection of video projects that I produced over the years while working for Anoka-Hennepin. The goal of my department was to produce journalism-style videos (like you might see on the news). Working in an incredibly small department and budget, I frequently performed all of the tasks involved in making video myself, including: arranging, filming, interviews, editing, script writing and production duties. Also included at the end of the list are a couple of video projects I did just for fun.
Anoka Middle School for the Arts art project (video podcast)
Students at Anoka Middle School for the Arts create cool geometric patterns based on historic Islamic art. I performed all of the arranging, filming, interviews, editing, script writing and production duties for this piece.

AHEF Shout Out 2015 promo
I was asked at the last minute to film/edit/produce a promo video for the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) first-ever "Fall Shout Out" event. The result was a tongue-in-cheek performance by the district superintendent (and a high school music teacher) of "Lean on Me" to help entice staff to attend the event, where real dueling piano professionals would entertain.

Access Anoka-Hennepin - staff attire video
This video provides a humorous take on appropriate workplace attire. It was originally created in 2005 to help new employees (especially teachers) know what's not ok to wear in the classroom (updated in 2014). In addition to writing the script, I also provided art direction for filming and was in charge of editing/production for this piece.

Elementary computer coding (video podcast)
This video shows how computer coding is being taught at the elementary level. I provided art direction for filming, conducted interviews and oversaw production for this piece.

Where Everybody Knows Mary's Name
This video was created to honor my beloved boss, Mary Olson, who retired in June 2015 after 32 years of service to the Anoka-Hennepin School District. Mary was often stuck in meetings or on the phone, but she wasn't without a sense of humor. We used to joke that she was at the office so much that she should get a cot to sleep on. This video shows a brief glimpse into a typical day for her and is set to the theme song for the TV show Cheers (one of her favorites). It was shown at her retirement party. I performed all of the arranging, filming, editing, script writing and production duties for this piece.

I Get Around - Google Local Guides
This video was created as a part of my Google Local Guides Summit 2016 contest application. Applicants were required to submit a one-minute video that supported their application. I’ve had a lot of fun taking photos of my community and thought a musical montage (another passion of mine) would be the best way to show that, so I rewrote the lyrics of I Get Around about my experiences being a Google Local Guide and created my own music video. I performed all of the arranging, filming, editing, script writing and production duties. I ended up using a backing track (I would have preferred to have performed it organically myself, but I was crunched for time). It's a fun little recap of having fun in my neighborhood.
